There are several possible reasons why your refrigerator is not dispensing water after replacing the filter. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
- Check if the water line is blocked: Sometimes, the water line leading to the refrigerator can become blocked or clogged, preventing water from flowing through. To check this, turn off the water supply to the refrigerator, disconnect the water line, and blow air through it to see if there is any blockage.
- Check the water pressure: Low water pressure can also prevent water from flowing through the dispenser. To check the water pressure, turn off the water supply to the refrigerator and disconnect the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Then turn on the water supply and check the water pressure.
- Check the water inlet valve: The water inlet valve controls the flow of water to the refrigerator. If it is faulty, it may prevent water from flowing through the dispenser. To check the valve, unplug the refrigerator and locate the water inlet valve at the back. Check for any signs of damage or wear and tear. If the valve is faulty, it may need to be replaced.
- Check the dispenser switch: The dispenser switch may also be faulty and preventing water from flowing through. To check this, remove the dispenser control panel and test the switch with a multimeter. If it is faulty, it may need to be replaced.
- Water Tube in Door is Frozen
- If the refrigerator water dispenser is not working the water supply tube in the door may be frozen. This will be difficult to track down. Look for a connection point at the bottom or top of the door, try removing the hose and blowing air through it and out the dispenser. If air passes through, it’s not frozen. If not, thaw it out. and determine where it froze in the door. Most doors are foamed in with a sleeve the water line goes thru to the dispenser. The freezer temp should be kept from 0 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit. If it is too cold the water line in the door may freeze.
- Water Inlet Valve
- If the water dispenser is not working the water pressure from the house might be too low. Water inlet valves require a minimum of 20 psi to function properly. If the pressure is good and the water filter is good, replace the water inlet valve.
- Low Water Pressure from House Supply
- If the water dispenser is not working the water pressure from the house might be too low. Water inlet valves require a minimum of 20 psi to function properly.
- Water Filter
- If the refrigerator water dispenser is not working the water filter might be clogged. Try changing the water filter.
- Door Switch
- If the refrigerator water dispenser is not working, the door switch might be defective. When the freezer door is opened the freezer door switch does two things, it turns on the light in the freezer and turns off the ice and water dispenser. If the door switch fails the dispenser will not turn on. The switch can be checked for continuity with an Ohm meter. If it doesn’t have continuity it should be replaced.
